County Administrator Joe Mareane today announced the appointment of Dr. Kenneth I. Clarke, Sr. to serve as Special Advisor to the Tompkins County Office of Human Rights. Dr. Clarke will provide executive leadership and oversight to the Office in the absence of a full-time Director.

Dr. Clarke has been engaged in a variety of social justice, community, and professional activities throughout his career.

Dr. Clarke retired from Cornell University in June 2017 after serving for sixteen years as the Director of Cornell United Religious Work. He previously served as the Director of the Center for Ethics and Religious Affairs at Penn State University.

He holds a Doctorate of Ministry from United Theological Seminary, a Masters of Divinity from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School, and a Bachelor of Arts from Morgan State University.

As Special Advisor, Dr. Clarke will provide oversight, guidance, and assistance to the staff of the County’s Office of Human Rights and establish a strong leadership presence to carry on the County’s Human Rights mission.

Dr. Clark’s engagement begins on November 6th.
