The Webster town board recently adopted a formal proclamation declaring Saturday, August 6th as 'Michael Nozzolio Day.'  The proclamation was a part of an event which was organized by Ron Nesbitt, Supervisor for the Town of Webster.

"Throughout the twenty five years that Senator Nozzolio has represented the town of Webster, he has been a constant advocate and supporter of every major event in the town.  From the indoor hockey rink that bears his name, to the numerous sports programs he has supported, Senator Nozzolio's presence is felt everywhere in the town and he will be deeply missed," said Supervisor Nesbitt.

Webster Police Chief, Joe Rieger, recognized Nozzolio for his support of the Webster Police Department and stated that as a result of the Senator's support, he has been able to purchase badly needed equipment for the members of his Department, thus helping to insure their safety and security while protecting the people of Webster.

In addition to the Webster Police department, members of the Webster Library board of directors thanked Nozzolio for the funding that helped to build the library and for his continued support of the library's programs and services.

Carmen Gumina, Webster School Superintendent, recognized Nozzolio for his support of the Webster school district and its students. In addition to providing the funding for new programs and services for Webster students, Nozzolio led the effort to completely eliminate the GEA, a costly education initiative that resulted in the loss of millions of dollars in education funds for Webster schools.  Thanks to the Senator's efforts, Webster schools will receive additional education funds in the New York State budget.  
 
Nozzolio was also successful in securing the funds to make significant improvements to the Webster aquatic center and he has consistently supported programs like robotics which encourages students to study math and science.


Members of several EMS and fire departments acknowledged Senator Nozzolio's commitment and dedication to their members. Nozzolio was successful in securing hundreds of thousands of dollars in grant funding which purchased fire fighting equipment, thermal imaging cameras and rescue equipment including a boat used for water rescue on Lake Ontario and Irondequoit Bay.

Barry Howard, President and CEO of the Webster Chamber of Commerce cited Nozzolio's support of economic development in Webster and stated,  "Senator Nozzolio's imprint can be found just about everywhere in the community.  Webster would not be the community of choice that it is today without Senator Nozzolio."

During the ceremony, Nozzolio was presented with mementoes from the groups who had gathered to recognize his service to the people of Webster and several gave Nozzolio special plaques that had been created to honor his commitment to their organization.

At the close of the ceremony, Senator thanked members of the Webster community for their friendship and support over the last twenty five years.  "Webster has always been a special place for me and I am honored by the many friendships I've made over the years," said Nozzolio.
