Lansing Ag DayAgriculture Committee Chairwoman Connie Wilcox announced Monday that Lansing Ag Day will be held October 15th.  The new event will celebrate agriculture, one of the top industries in the Town.  Wilcox said that she, along with Councilwoman Andra Benson, the Ag Committee and the Lansing Community Library is planning the three-hour event that will be held in the Library and Community Center and the surrounding area.

"I think it's going to be a fun day, and I think we'll get a good turnout," Wilcox told Town Board members at their Wednesday meeting.

Proposed attractions and activities include tractors, animals, pumpkin painting, apple tasting, cheese tasting, face painting, barbecue, possibly a quilt display.  Wilcox says ideas are being solicited, and Benson added that she contacted Cornell Cooperative Extension to request that the Tompkins County Dairy Princess and local 4H groups participate.

Wilcox said a 'looking zoo' (not a petting zoo) is planned, and Librarian Susie Gutenberger will be featuring farming books at the library.  She requested permission from the Town Board to use some of her committee's budget to advertise the event.  Lansing Ag Day is planned for October 15th between 10am and 2pm.
