'Moving Landscapes' continues the Triphammer Arts/CRS Barn Studio tradition of bringing innovative dance and music partnerships to Ithaca audiences. Beginning with an outdoor prologue performed in the gardens, with a panoramic view of Cayuga Lake, the evening will include choreographed pieces in a wide range of dance styles, as well as music-and-dance improvisations that engage audience members in a lively creative process. This is a rare opportunity to see choreographic work in all stages of development, and to observe dance making in action in an informal setting with live music. A reception following the performance will offer audience members a chance to meet the artists and even offer feedback on dance works in progress.

Triphammer Arts and the CRS Barn Studio organize and host these annual grassroots performances to celebrate the art form of dance and to showcase choreographic talent from across the region.

Moving Landscapes will feature work by professional choreographers Amy Bush, Jeanne Goddard, Lesley Tillotson, Jim Self and others in collaboration with dancers and musicians from the central New York area. From longtime Cornell dance faculty member Jim Self comes a new solo, “Booking,” and Elmira choreographer Amy Bush presents both a duet and a large group work. Goddard will premier a sextet entitled 'MMXVII' and will also restage her comic solo, 'Something about a lamp,' set to a whimsical score by Aurora composer Ethan MacCormick. Joining the choreographers will be dancers Tina Christina Price, Liz Herman, Janice Kovar, Risa Lieberwitz, Julie Nathanlielsz, and Lesley Tillotson.

Baritone Steven Stull and pianist John White will accompany the dancers and will also perform a selection of jazz standards and improvisations.

Moving Landscapes: An Evening of Dance and Music will be performed on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 7:30 pm. The performance will take place rain or shine.
