Advocating for justice, freedom, and democracy since the 1970s, Sweet Honey In The Rock has used the power of song to grow into one of the premiere ambassadorial African American musical organizations. With a mission of empowerment, education, and entertainment, this female a cappella group performs spirituals, blues, gospel, and related world musics, and empowers audiences to address critical social issues.

While in Ithaca, Sweet Honey In The Rock will present two workshops that are free and open to the public. On Friday, March 2, Sweet Honey In The Rock joins the Cornell Chorale in Call Auditorium, Kennedy Hall (215 Garden Ave.) from 5:45-6:45pm. This workshop offers an up-close and personal introduction to Sweet Honey In The Rock's distinguished history, mission, and unique a cappella vocal phrasing and style.

On Saturday, March 3, Sweet Honey In The Rock presents a workshop at the Greater Ithaca Activities Center (301 W. Court St.) from 11am-12pm. This workshop invites the public to experience a wide range of musical ideas and social messages, meant to inspire listeners to stay involved with their communities and the world. Free childcare will be provided.

Sweet Honey In The Rock concludes their stay in Ithaca with a ticketed performance in Bailey Hall on Saturday, March 3 at 8pm.
