As part of Cornell's Homecoming celebration, the Glee Club begins their sesquicentennial year on Saturday, September 22 at 7:00pm at Bailey Hall. Under the direction of Robert Isaacs, the program will take a look back at their 150 years of existence with music by alumni composers; music from notable collaborations over the years; a nod to their founding as the Glee, Banjo and Mandolin Club; and the piece most strongly associated with the group, Franz Biebl's Ave Maria (for which they were the first American performers and champions). The Chorus will also make an appearance, singing folk music from Scandinavia, contemporary pieces, and music of the renaissance composer Tomas Luis da Victoria.

The Midday Music series continues in Lincoln Hall room B20 on Thursday, September 20 at 12:30pm. Morton Wan performs works by Bach and Couperin on harpsichord. Wan, a PhD musicology student, studied piano performance at the Royal Academy of Music in London and at McGill University. He has given performances both as a soloist and chamber musician in the UK, Germany, Sweden, Canada, and Hong Kong; he has participated in such festivals as Aspen, Dartington, Tafelmusik Baroque Institute, Aurora Chamber Music, the International Keyboard Institute and Festival, and he competed in the 2019 Leipzig International Bach Competition. The concert is free and open to the public.
