capitalbuilding 120Congressman Tom Reed met with 10 small business owners from the greater Geneva area and representatives from the Geneva Chamber of Commerce to discuss challenges to business development and specific challenges they face as women in the workforce.

"We care about helping our small businesses thrive because they are the backbone of our economy. As a former small business owner myself, I recognize the challenges they face," said Reed. "It's only right we fight to ensure small business owners have the resources needed to succeed, including taking advantage of those provided by our offices throughout the district."

Reed was joined by his Economic Development Liaison, Jill Koski, to provide an overview of resources available for small business owners through his office.

"Encouraging women to become entrepreneurs is critical for our national economy. That is why we are fighting for local and national policies that will further that process, including reforming the tax code, to make it simple, fair and competitive and ending unnecessary government regulations that limit growth, that negatively impacts all small businesses," said Reed.

Koski is a full time staff member designated to provide a clearinghouse of information for small business owners. From federal programs to local incubators, from the first steps of planning to expansion from small to large businesses, she can provide entrepreneurs with the information they need to succeed.

"We've met with small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs alike and have learned that those who are interested in starting their own businesses often don't know where to begin; that's why Jill is such a critical component to our team. She provides area entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs with a wealth of knowledge to get them started on this path to success. Jill is a great addition to our staff," said Reed.
