imgcOn November 19, 2016, the Ithaca Gay Men's Chorus (IGMC) will perform their Fall Concert, 'Between the Sheets' at 8:00 PM in the First Baptist Church, located in Ithaca's historic Dewitt Park at 309 North Cayuga Street.

This concert will include music by Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, Stephen Stills, Kurt Knecht, David Dickau, Jerry Herman and others.  Included in the variety of lyrics are the poetry of e.e. cummings and Rudyard Kipling.

Proceeds from the concert will go towards the chorus' annual operating expenses, which include the purchase of music, rights to perform certain pieces, and compensation for their talented professional staff.

Sam Kwan continues as director for this concert.  Sam holds degree in the Music Education and Vocal Performance from Ithaca College.  As a junior Sam taught at the Immaculate Conception School under the mentorship of Dr. Emily Mason and Mr. Michael Roddy.  Sam has studied choral conducting, rehearsal techniques, and repertoire under the mentorship of Dr. Derrick Fox and Dr. Janet Galván.  While at Ithaca College, Ms. Kwan sung in three main-stage operas and a handful of student-run and community operas.  In 2015 she appeared as Aunt Cecilia March in Ithaca College's production of Adamo's Little Women.

IGMC was founded in 2009 and first appeared as a guest of the VOICES Multi-Cultural Chorus.  VOICES and IGMC are members of Ithaca Community Choruses (ICC), an organization providing opportunities for Tompkins County residents to perform in professionally directed choral groups.  The group is the only inclusive all-male choral group in Ithaca, proudly recognizing the talents of both straight and gay men in their ensemble.
