Congressman Tom Reed supported the latest reauthorization of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

"We care about keeping all Americans safe, and we do that by ensuring our defense agencies have the resources they need to execute their missions effectively," said Reed. "It's only right that we come together and ensure our national security and support our troops as they make the sacrifices needed to keep us safe."

The Congressional proposal, which passed both chambers late last week, protects roughly 21,000 active duty service personnel from dismissal, which would have been part of the President's ongoing reduction efforts. In addition, the proposal will give active duty service members the largest pay increase in almost six years.

"The members of our military and their families continue to make tremendous sacrifices to ensure our security. We are grateful for their dedication," said Reed.

In addition, the bill enhances military readiness, strengthens military health care, and institutes organizational reforms to increase accountability, oversight, integration, and strategic thinking within the Department of Defense.

It is expected the President will sign the agreement later this month without objection.
