helmingCanandaigua -  New York State Senate candidate Pam Helming today announced her endorsement of Donald Trump for President, calling him a "leader who will shatter the status quo and fight to make America great again."

Helming, who is running to replace long-serving state Senator Mike Nozzolio in the 54th Senate district, threw her support behind the New York businessman on the same day he delivered his official remarks to the delegates at the GOP convention in Cleveland.  He was officially named as the Republican nominee on Tuesday.

"Donald Trump wants to do things differently than they've been done over the last 8 years.  The last thing we need is another 4 years of passing the buck and failing to face up to the challenges that are holding back our nation and its people.  As the Republican nominee for President, Donald Trump will bring about the fundamental change we need," Helming said.

Helming pointed to the illegal immigration crisis plaguing the country and the need to do more to ensure the safety and security of American citizens.

"We must deal with the problem of illegal immigration and control, secure and defend our borders from those looking to attack our country. I am confident that Donald Trump will provide the leadership needed to make that happen," Helming said.

Helming pledged her strong opposition to the 'New York State DREAM' Act, which provides illegal immigrants with taxpayer funded tuition assistance grants to pay for college, and the 'NY is Home Act' which would enable illegal immigrants to vote in state elections, collect welfare, serve on juries and run for public office.

Helming cited the positive energy present in interviews with delegates in Cleveland and the work that has been done in recent weeks unifying the Republican Party as welcome developments.

"As a proud Republican, I am excited to be part of one of the most important elections of our lifetime. I endorse Donald Trump's candidacy and look forward to working with him and his administration to strengthen New York and make America great again," she concluded.
