Ithaca- Dorothy L. Bibbie, age 81 of Ithaca, a retired License Practical Nurse at Lakeside Nursing Home, died Thursday November 19, 2009 at Hospicare surrounded by her loving family. Ms. Bibbie was born in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late Brickers Thompson and Mabel Craig. During her nursing career, she worked for serveral area facilities. She will always be remembered for her natural ability to play the piano (in the Key of C) which she enjoyed doing for her family and her church. Before William Lloyd Bibbie died in 1996, Ms. Bibbie enjoyed riding on the motorcycle with her husband.

Survivors include her eight daughters, Cissy Evans, Elizabeth (Aaron) Smiley, Clarissa Hill, Mabel Evans Welch, Olivia Jones, Valerie Grinston, Florence Evans, Stephanie McClain; two sons, Earl Evans and William (Mary) Evans; 30 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild who is on the way; two step-sons, William Lloyd (Janie) Bibbie III and Roy Bibbie; she also leave to mourn her two close friends, Rena O’Pray and Elaine Apgar. In addition to her parents and husband, she is precedeceded in death by her two sons, Horace Evans and Steven Bibbie; three granddaughters and a great-grandson; a sister, Essie Craig.

Funeral Services will be on Monday (Nov. 23, 2009) at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathaniel Wright officiating. Burial will be private in South Hill Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made to Hospicare, 172 E. King Road, Ithaca. Arrangements were entusted to the care of the Herson Funeral Home.
