mailmanThe Village of Lansing government has functioned for the benefit of its citizens since the Village was founded. Since its inception, the Community Party has represented the Village officers. The Party has functioned so well because it is not a party in the conventional sense.

By focusing on Village issues only and steadfastly maintaining independence from non-Village political causes, the 'party' has been able to utilize the talents of Democrats, Republicans and Independents. When the issues are strictly local, there is very little disagreement on the issues. Does a road need repair? Can we schedule improvements without going into debt? What is the lowest tax rate that will maintain the quality of life and our credit rating?

The Community Party has always encouraged citizen participation. It started a citizen observer program, scheduling volunteers to attend Village board meetings and send reports to the members. During our signature petition drives, we have given out literature and asked all residents to join the "party" and participate in elections.

Citizen participation has been our only cause and we have pursued it year in and year out. We have never allowed special interests to be a part of our campaigns or the philosophy of our candidates. The Village is well run because of the willingness of our candidates to serve when others were not.

We ask that you recognize the fundamental differences in philosophy between our candidates and the opposition and vote for Don Hartill, Patricia O'Rourke and Ronny Hardaway on April 25th.
