November 2nd, Watkins Glen - Class C Sectional Preliminaries were held at the Watkins Glen Natatorium tonight; with athletes from the 9 schools that make up the Section IV Class C ranks for Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving.

Only the top 16 swimmers in each individual event qualify for the 2 scoring final heats. Swimmers qualifying in the top 8 spots swim in the Championship Final for the event, while the swimmers placing in the 9 through 16 spots will swim in the Consolation Final. As the reigning Section IV Class C Champions, Coaches Diane Hicks-Hughes and Shelly Matheny worked their lineup of varsity swimmers to compete strongly in the hopes they had a large contingent represented at the finals to help defend the title.

This year’s championship will be especially challenging as Oneonta and Elmira Notre Dame are now competing in the Class C level; Dryden was elevated to Class B this season. Owego Free Academy will host the Class C Finals on Saturday November 5th at 1:00.
