Lansing's Girls Swimming and Diving Team triumphed again in Tuesday's (9/27) home match against Odessa Montour. Lansing scored nearly twice their opponents' total at 104 to 64. Earlier (9/23-9/24) the team competed in the EFA "Jack Thomas" Invitational meet, scoring first in Division C.

In the Girls 200 Yard Freestyle Lansing took first and second place when Kendal Dean finished in 2:24.80, followed by Chelsie Radcliffe, swimming it in 2:31.18. Lansing took the top three slots in the third event when Hannah Wingate completed the Girls 200 Yard IM 2:30.56, Lexi Payton finished in 2:45.08 and Rachel Bland in 2:50.71.

Claire Eckstrom (26.24) and KC Hatfield (29.07) both scored in first and second place in the Girls 50 Yard Freestyle. Lansing divers Danyelle Barron (X131.00), Kristin Carlson ( X132.25) and Kiki Gifft (X154.35) were the only competitors in the Girls 1 mtr Diving event.

In the Girls 100 Yard Butterfly Odessa took first place when Haleigh Wixson finished in 1:07.51. She was closely followed by Hannah Wingate, taking second in 1:08.63 and Maeve Campbell scoring third place in 1:15.69.

Kendal Dean (1:03.30) finished first in the Girls 100 Yard Freestyle. Lansing also took third place with Kayla Arrison finishing in 1:05.43 and scored a point when Sarah Tull finished in 1:10.13. In the seventh event Lansing took first, third and fifth place in the Girls 100 Yard Freestyle. Kendal Dean finished first in 1:03.30, Kayla Arrison took third with 1:05.43 and Sarah Tull fifth with 1:10.13.

Next Kali Dean (6:10.51), Rachel Bland (6:48.08) and Katrina Mehringer (6:51.62) all scored points for Lansing, taking first, second and fourth place, respectively. Lansing HS Girls' Varsity 'C' finished first in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with Caitlin Wright, Hannah Wingate, Kiki Gifft and Kayla Arrison completing the event in 1:55.05.

Odessa scored first third and fourth in the 100 Yard Backstroke with KC Hatfield (1:12.48) taking second place for Lansing. Claire Eckstrom (1:14.81) then took first place in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with Odessa making the other scoring times.

Then Lansing rallied in the final event with the Varsity C team of Kendal Dean, Kayla Arrison, Kiki Gifft and KC Hatfield finishing in 4:25.00 to take first place.

The EFA Invitational was a two day event held at Elmira Free Academy where girls from all three divisions could compete against each other. High School divisions are based on school population on the grounds that a larger population is more likely to produce faster swimmers. This event allows competitors to see who their competition will be if they make it to the State championships.
