hocky2_120Hosted by Tompkins Girls Hockey Association (TGHA), the Ithaca 19U and 14U Shooting Stars were among 24 teams competing in the tournament for 12U, 14U, 16U and 19U girls hockey teams and was based at The RINK .The schedule and results are found at: www.ithacagirlshockey.com.

Each team played two games in their three team division before crossing over to play a third game. The two teams with the best record at each age level played Sunday in the championship round:

12U: Amherst Knights    4  Camillus Cougars  2
14U: Etobicoke Dolphins  4   Adirondack Northstars  1
16U: Barrie Sharks   2  Troy Albany Ice Cats  0
19U: Adirondack Northstars  4  Buffalo Regals 1

TGHA had two Ithaca Shooting Stars travel teams competing:

14Us defeated Webster Cyclones 5-0 on Friday and tied West Seneca Wings 1-1 on Saturday before falling in the crossover to Adirondack Northstars 4-5 Sunday.

19Us beat Susquehanna Rapids 5-0 on Friday and Buffalo Regals 5-0 on Saturday before falling to the eventual champion Adirondack Northstars, 1-2 on Sunday.

Friday's 19U victory featured Sarah Eisenhut recording shutout, and a hat trick by Ali Pace and goals by Carrie Wilder and
Jackie Cornell.

On Saturday, Ithaca 19U Shooting Stars defeated the Buffalo Regals, 5-0, and advanced to the crossover/semi-final game on Sunday (having beaten Susquehanna Rapids 5-0 on Friday).  Sarah Eisenhut posted her second shut-out of the tournament stopping 29 shots (as did the Regals goalie).  Hannah Golay had a hat trick for Ithaca while Grace Ulinski and Carrie Wilder each scored once.  Assists were made by Jackie Cornell, Lauren Herrick and Kathryn Lushwitz.

Friday's 14U victory featured Caitlin Whittaker shutting out the Webster Cyclones, 4-0, and goals by Madison Gneo, Ellie Muckstadt, Rachel Brock and Aiya Taylor.

Also on Saturday, the 14Us tied West Seneca Wings 1-1, which advanced them to the crossovers as well (as they had beated Webster Cyclones Friday 5-0).  Caitlin Whittaker made 19 saves and Madison Gneo scored the goal assisted by Aiya Taylor.

On Sunday, both 19U and 14U lost in close contests so they did not reach the 2010 championship round.

19Us lost 1-2 to the Adirondack Northstars.  Eisenhut stopped 20 shots.  The one goal was scored by Lushwitz assisted by Krystalyn Yonkin.

14U Shooting Stars were defeated 4-5 with Whittaker making 30 saves.  Taylor scored a hat trick and Julie Miettunen one goal.  Assists were made by  Taylor, Paige Johnson, Aurora Solla, Rachel Brock, and three by Gneo.
