On Sunday March 12 evening, the Ithaca 14U Shooting Stars played in the NYS 14U Tier 2 Championship Tournament game vs. the Long Island Waves. The locals fell 3-2 in an evenly matched contest with the defending state champions. Goalie Sarah Eisenhut stopped 23 shots for the 2006 finalists. Emma Marshall scored the first Ithaca goal assisted by Erin Grainger, and Whitney Colbert scored assisted by Lauren Cole and Emily Eisenhut.

The three day tournament in Potsdam began with Ithaca placed as the second seed from Central Section. Their first game Friday against West 1, Webster Cyclones, ended in a 2-2 tie. Colbert scored first assisted by Grainger. Katie Long scored the second goal to tie the game assisted by Colbert.

Their second game was Saturday against the lowest seeded team from the North (they had three teams since North hosted and had four teams qualified at this level) Lake Placid Blizzard. Ithaca defeated them 4-1 on two goals by Long, and single ones by Colbert and Marshall. Grainger had two assists as did E. Eisenhut. Blizzard goalie Chelsea Preston made 57 saves in the loss.

Next Ithaca faced the Long Island Waves representing the East Section. Ithaca fell behind 2-0 but came from behind to tie the game at 2-2 when Long scored twice in the third period. She was assisted by Colbert and E. Eisenhut. S. Eisenhut stopped 25 shots in this game.

The Shooting Stars advanced to the semi-final game on Sunday against the top-seeded team and host North Country Ice Storm of Potsdam. S. Eisenhut made 23 saves in the 2-1 victory which featured Colbert scoring twice in the same shift. One goal was unassisted while Colleen Dillon assisted the other from the blue line.

Other team members are Alex Colbert, Lucy Marshall, Sarah Mogil, Kelly Shenk and Chelsea Patterson. Tony Eisenhut and Karen Cole coach the 14U girls assisted by Jay Sciarabba.
