Inducted 2017
The team was nominated for the Hall of Fame a few years ago by Adam Heck. Their envelopes were presented by Beth Heck and daughters Madyson and Alexis.

The 1998 Boys Soccer team was the first soccer team to win a soccer Sectional Championship in Lansing school history. Let's hear what the Ithaca Journal had to say in their pre-season article regarding the I A C.

"Last season's 12-5-2 mark earned the Bobcats a Section IV Class C quarter final appearance, where Greene posted a 2-0 win ending Lansing's season. This season, Lansing seems to be prepared for anything."

What does it say about a program when getting to the states is step 1? That is now the expectation when any season begins for the Lansing Boys Varsity Soccer Program and has been ever since the 2004 squad, the first ones to do it. After beating Sauquoit Valley last weekend, the Bobcats punched their tickets for a return trip hoping the outcome would be better than last year's 1-0 loss in the semis to World of Inquiry.

But first, let's recap how they got there. The Bobcats first won the IAC Championship a month ago versus Elmira Notre Dame 1-0 on a nice night at TC3. Then postseason began the following weekend as the Bobcats took care of Odessa Montour 7-0 at Ithaca College. The next weekend almost stopped Lansing's opportunity to return to Middletown when they faced Greene on Greene's turf. The Bobcats went down early and it wasn't until two goals off of set pieces that put Lansing back ahead and on to regionals with a 2-1 victory. There they faced Sauquoit Valley at Herkimer CC. While the shot differential substantially favored Lansing, the result was only a 1-0 win, but they gladly took it to Middletown, a trip they had strived to make all year long.

The Lansing Recreation Department Cheerleader Squads presented three plaques to Lansing Supervisor Ed LaVigne and Recreation Director Steve Colt Wednesday.  The plaques were won at the YFL Youth Cheerleading Competition in Trumansburg two weeks ago including First Place Stunt Off, Senior Third Place, and Junior First Place.  Parent Pete Walker said the plaques would be put on display in the Town Hall, and thanked the Town for its contribution to help buy new uniforms and equipment for the junior and senior squads.

"We promised we would raise as much money as we could if the Town could help us out," Walker said.  "Ed was on board.  Steve was on board.  Our cheerleading team raised approximately $4,000, and we received a $2,000 stipend from the town, which was awesome.  We were able to get brand new cheerleading uniforms, pop-poms,warm-ups for the girls.  It helped them look good and feel good about themselves, which is huge in cheerleading."

Lansing's Emmaline Jackson finished 9th (21:37.0), just missing qualification for states but boost her team's score. Allison Keefe (22:19), Eden Jackson (22:30), and Teresa Garcia (22:47) finished 16/20/27 respectively to round out the scoring for the Lady Bobcats and earn a 2nd place team finish to a very competitive Delhi program, which advanced to states.

After the rout of Seton Catholic, the Lansing Boys Soccer team traveled up to Herkimer County CC to take on the Section III champs, the Sauquoit Valley Indians who won their game 1-0 without much difficulty. Right from the kickoff the Bobcats earned themselves a corner and looked to take an early advantage. Captain Nick Parkes received the restart in short. He then crossed the ball to the back post just missing midfielder Jacob Williamson for the tap in. A few minutes later another cross came in from the left, but striker Taylor Overton put his finish just outside of the upper corner. The inability of Lansing to finish would become the theme of the game.

The pressure never let up by the Bobcats. As the ball moved around the midfield and defensive line, opportunities opened up. However Indians goalkeeper Josh Ward was up to every challenge. His best save of the first half came on a free kick just inside half. This has been a spot that the Bobcats have been dangerous in the past and this time was no different. Nic Whittaker drove the ball into the box and Parkes got a free shot at goal as the ball came right to him. Ward made himself big and blocked the shot with his feet. The score went into half nil-nil.

The Section IV Class C semifinal playoff football game took place on sunny Fall day on the turf field of host Johnson City High School. The unseasonally warm and often windy conditions saw the Bobcats roar out to a 14-0 lead by the end of the first quarter of the 11AM game time.

Completely reversing their fortunes of a week ago on a cold dark game in Oneonta facing these same Yellow Jackets from Oneonta where Lansing was quickly down 20-0. This time out saw Joe Miller-Labar taking a handoff up the middle and covering 54 yards for the games first score. Griffen Nelson and Dakota Johnson teamed up to plug the Oneonta kickoff returner. Offensive linemen Nelson and Kade Bennett were relied on early to pave the way around the left side for the Lansing offensive attack with first quarter success. Center Alex Powers pushed the middle back for the 2 yard quarterback sneak by Garrett Bell giving the Bobcats the 14-0 lead going into the second quarter.

Watkins Glen, NY – IAC Championships were held at the Watkins Glen High School this past Saturday, and the LadyCat swimmers and divers of Lansing capped off their regular season 11-0 Dual meet record with an overall win at the championship meet.

Eight schools and more than 120 swimmers competed at this year’s championship which saw the overall team lead change several times. With every point mattering, it took a total team effort in all events for Lansing to retain the title for a 5th year. Most LadyCat swimmers contributed, many scoring in spots well above their seed time to bring home the victory.

Nearly two hours from the hometown and down two scores early in the first quarter was a deficit that would prove to be difficult to overcome for Lansing. From here on out points were basically even in the high scoring contest.

The Bobcats actually found themselves down 20-0 three minutes into the second quarter. Desperate for a momentum shift the offense switched tactics up a bit. Quarterback Garrett Bell heaved a pass that his teammate Luke Winslow jumped high for and resulted in a 25 yard gain into Oneonta territory. From the Yellow Jackets 12 Bell and Winslow hooked up on the same play call and the Bobcats first scoring tally.

On Saturday the Lansing Bobcats began their run for a state championship against the Odessa-Montour Indians. The game was played at Ithaca College's Higgins Stadium due to a civil service exam occupying Lansing's home field for the day.

The Bobcats came out with an expectation to win and did just that. While it took a few minutes for Lansing to score, when that first goal came, it was sublime. Captain Josh Zajac tracked down a ball that was going over the end-line to keep it in play. He cut it back and drove in a cross with his left. Taylor Overton was at the near-post to flick the ball in with his head. Lansing went up 1-0 and never looked back.
