The Lansing Recreation Department is now accepting registrations for their youth baseball (LBP) and softball (LSP) programs.  Programs are offered for students in grades K-6.  Each program is divided by grade level into 4 leagues, with most games played evenings during the week and some on Saturday.  "It's been a long standing, very successful, well attended program for years," says Recreation Director Steve Colt.  So much so, he says, that other towns emulate Lansing's programs.

"We've got some really great Moms and Dads that coach for us, and we hope they'll be able to make the commitment to return this year," Colt says.  Last year there were 17 or 18 boys teams and 12 to 14 girls teams, not counting T-ball.  Colt says he hopes to maintain those levels even with lower enrollment this year in the Elementary School.

The varsity team was undefeated in the dual meets, won the IAC championship, and the Sectional championship.  They also won the IAC diving championship, winning every meet it was possible to win.  "They had a great season and have a fantastic team history," says Dewey.  "The best in school history, in fact."

02/25  -- This past weekend the Lansing boys' team went to Vestal's Midway Lanes to be one of ten teams trying to win a spot in next weekends State Finals in Syracuse. Going up against the power house teams of Elmira Southside & UE I knew we had our work cut out for us.

Bowling against Greene in the morning we finished third and were seeded against Watkins Glen for the afternoon session. We just seemed to bowl average all day long as we'd have an off game and then come back the next with a better game. When the day ended we were fourth behind Elmira Southside, UE & SV finishing best of all the IAC schools and MAC division schools. We have had a great season and look towards next year as we'll bring this same team back so with another year of practice and experience we'll see what we can do then.

2/14/06 -- Lansing Varsity Boys Basketball team lost to Newfield in a 55-47 game.  Treyson Barresi IAC Division III MVP led Lansing with 19 points.

Newfield was just a bit better in all areas -- they were more composed an got us in the third quarter.  We came back to cut it to 5 but ran out of time.  They are a very good team.  I think it will help us for sectionals.
