It may be spring break, but the girls of Lansing's track and field team were not about to let up their efforts.  Running and jumping to a third place finish at the Doug Quinney Invitational in Sidney on Saturday, the ladycats then returned to action on Monday and won the Tully Co-Ed Spring Break Invitational.

Lansing made the trip out to Sidney High School for the second annual Doug Quinney Invitational where 24 teams would compete at the venue for the upcoming Section 4 Class C Championship Meet (May 26).  Emma Dhimitri stood on the awards stand in all four of her events.  She set a new meet record of 16.54 seconds with her win in the 100M hurdles and followed this up with second place in the 400M hurdles, 4th place in the triple jump, and a speedy anchor leg of the 4th place 4x400M relay (which also included Mikaela Garcia, Leigh Miller, and Catie Eisenhut).  Eisenhut also set a meet record, running to the win in the 1500M with a time of 5:08.48.

The 4x100M team of Meghan Matheny, Emily Gallagher, Gwen Gisler, and Miya Kuramoto lowered their season best time to 52.91 seconds as they secured a second-place finish.  Gallagher continued to lead a strong crew of pole vaulters, winning the event again with a vault of 11' with Gisler and Matheny completing scoring jumps of 9' and 8'6" respectively.  At the end of the meet, Newark Valley took the team win with 88 points, followed by Notre Dame (74) and Lansing (66).

The girls were back in action once again on Monday at the Tully Invitational and put forth a winning team effort, with almost every participating ladycat posting a season best time, jump, or vault.  In the pole vault, Gallagher won with 11' with teammates Gisler and Matheny both vaulting 10', new personal bests and 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.  Gallagher also hit a personal best of 15'11" to win the long jump, with Liz Barre and Gisler also earning points with their jumps in the event.  Garcia won the triple jump and snagged third in the 400M.  Dhimitri won both the 100M and 400M hurdles, and Barre clocked a new personal best of 17.72 seconds for a close third place finish in the 100M hurdles.

Kuramoto sped through a close race in the 100M, finishing in second and anchoring the winning 4x100M team (Matheny, Gallagher, Gisler, Kuramoto).  Eisenhut once again won the 1500M, and Miller ran a personal best of 12:06.56 in the 3000M, earning second-place in the event.  The 4x400M team of Michelle Schafer, Eisenhut, Dhimitri and Garcia lowered their season best time to 4:17.14 and ran away with the event win.  The Lansing girls won the meet with 129 points with Weedsport taking second (91) and Hannibal (74) rounding out the top three teams of eleven.

The Lansing boys posted several scoring performances throughout the weekend as well.  At the Quinney, the boys 4x100M team secured a fifth-place podium finish and Xavier Gell vaulted to a 5th place tied position.  Dryden won the team competition.  At Tully, Gell cleared 10' for a third-place finish on Monday.  Joey Miller-LaBar and Mike Lapar both scored for Lansing in the high jump while James Blair jumped to a fourth place finish in the long jump.  Alex Powers improved his personal best in the shot put for a third place finish.  The 4x100M team snagged third in the event.  The hosting boys team won the meet.
