Triphammer Arts Inc. will present its annual choreographers' showcase, Moving Landscapes 2019: An Evening of Dance and Music on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 7:30 pm. Audiences will enjoy original dance works in a spectacular setting at the CRS Barn Studio, 2622 North Triphammer Road in Ithaca. The performance will take place rain or shine, and a reception will follow the performance.

Moving Landscapes continues the Triphammer Arts/CRS Barn Studio tradition of bringing innovative dance and music partnerships to Ithaca audiences. We are delighted to announce that the outdoor prologue in the garden will feature, for the first time, the dancers' interaction with Rob Licht's newly installed paired large-scale sculptures, "Glimmerglass Landforms," set against the panoramic backdrop of Cayuga Lake.

The evening will include choreographed pieces in a wide range of dance styles, as well as music-and-dance improvisations that promise to be both unpredictable and entertaining. The concert features work by both established professionals and emerging young choreographers from Ithaca, Rochester, Geneva, Elmira, and Canada, with a strong emphasis on live music, and audience interaction. Jeanne Goddard will direct a set of structured music-dance improvisations in collaboration with baritone Steven Stull, pianist John White, and guitarist David Coester, Ithaca musicians who will also perform song selections throughout the program. This is a rare opportunity to observe dance-making in action in an informal setting with live music, and to mingle with the artists after the show.

This year's performance features work by a number of exciting newcomers as well as favorite regional artists, including Donna Davenport's new solo, "It's Not That," Jeanne Goddard's solo with text, "Stone Garden," and Nancy Gaspar's quartet, "Conflicted" with music by Diana Krall. Rik Daniels performs in a pair of innovative duets: "Swiveling(s)" with Jim Self and "Tango Ménage" with Nicole Agaronnik, and Ithaca choreographer Michael Bardo will offer a new group work. Rochester choreographers Missy Pfohl Smith and Zachary Frazee will perform to Figaro's aria from The Barber of Seville, SJ Burton, Michelle Iklé, and Amy Bush will perform a new collaborative trio, and Heather Acomb and Audrey Woolever will round out the program.

The dance ensemble for the evening includes Heather Acomb, Nicole Agaronnik, Michael Bardo, Sierra Bouchard, Sarah Jane Burton, Amy Bush, Lauren Cranidiotis, Rik Daniels, Donna Davenport, Bernadette Fiocca, Zachary Frazee, Jeanne Goddard, Jakob Graham, Michelle Iklé, Ksenia Ionova, Risa Lieberwitz, Megan Nicole, MeSri Milan Osika, Yvette Rubio, Jim Self, Missy Pfohl Smith, Audrey Woolever, and Iska Ziver.
