Ask anyone in the jewelry business and they know Perry Sporn----founder and CEO of Perrywinkle’s Fine Jewelry. Perry grew up in the business. He started the business when he was 17 to pay his way through college. He’s traveled regularly to Tel Aviv, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Surat, Jaipur, Bangkok, Chantaburi, Antwerp and Bogota buying as many stones as he could afford. Over time, he built direct relationships with site holders and miners, working with diamond cutters, always testing and experimenting with different cuts. He holds three patents for unique diamond cuts.
When you ask Perry what makes his products special, he’s quick to answer, ”You don’t need words, just look at our diamonds----you can see the difference.”
That phrase is also appropriate for the newly renovated Perrywinkle’s store in Ithaca.
When you walk through the Shops at Ithaca Mall and reach Perrywinkle’s, you can see the difference. The store has been renovated with new lighting, new carpeting with an upscale but comfortable look and feel. You’ll see many extraordinary pieces of jewelry many of which are custom designed and handcrafted here in the US.
“We’re thrilled to renovate the store and offer our unique selection of custom jewelry to the Ithaca community, ” said Jevan Fox, General Manager.
Tiffany, Harry Winston, Van Cleef are a few of the luxury brands who still design, manufacture and finish their jewelry in the United States. It may seem odd to compare Perrywinkle’s to Tiffany in the same sentence but one look at their jewelry and you’ll see the difference.
