lacrosseOneonta, NY – Senior Connor Jansen (Horseheads, N.Y.) of the Wells College men’s lacrosse team became the program’s all-time leader in career points scored on Saturday during his team’s 32-6 loss to SUNY Oneonta. The Express drop to 1-2 overall on the year while the Red Dragons move to 3-1 on the young season.
 
With a goal and an assist in the game, Jansen has tallied 133 career points via 84 goals and 49 assists to pass former teammate Daniel Munsell ’13 for first place all-time in the team’s nine-year history.
 
Junior Alex Milliken (Hilton, N.Y.) led Wells with three goals while sophomore Tanner Mingen (Houston, Texas) scored twice. Jansen’s goal rounded out the scoring for Wells – he also added an assist alongside sophomore Aaron Heisey (Mechanicsburg, Pa.). Junior Derrick Owens (Utica, N.Y.) reeled in a team-leading five ground balls while senior Michael Flaherty (Rochester, N.Y.) picked up the lone caused turnover for his team.
 
The Red Dragons opened up an 11-0 first quarter lead and never looked back, outshooting the Express 72-to-24 while holding decisive advantages in ground balls (55-to-19), face-off victories (32-to-10) and extra-man goals (three-to-one). 18 different players recorded at least one point for SUNY Oneonta.
 
Wells backstop Elijah Tracey (Utica, N.Y.) made a career-high 16 saves for Wells, drawing the loss. The Red Dragons utilized three goalkeepers who combined to make seven saves while allowing six goals in the 60-minute affair.
