Camps for All Interests

How many camp sessions do you think the Lansing Recreational Department is offering this summer? By our count there are over 40, but who's counting?!

This year Joni Geiger is leading the three one week sessions of the Summer Day Camp, on June 27, July 11 and July 25. Gail Hughes is conducting Band Camp July 5-8. Other camps and sessions include volleyball camp, Horse Care & Riding, swimming, art, tennis, golf, track and field, basketball, sailing, rock climbing, soccer and theater.

For details, times and fees pick up a program book just inside the front door of the Lansing Town Hall, or download a copy from the Recreation Department's web site at http://www.recreation.lansing.ny.us/.

Also, games and activities have been organized, including a bounce house, dunking booth, baseball radar gun, Lansing varsity women vs. men soccer game, and shots on the star soccer goalie. Chicken BBQ dinners and African crafts will be for sale, and a beautiful quilt will be raffled off. Admission includes a PALS button ($3 adults, $2 children, $10 family), and all proceeds will go towards the reconstruction of the roof at the partner school in Kenya. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Rain location will be the Lansing Middle School.

Motorcycle Test Track Approved

Discussion grew heated at last night's Town Board meeting as the vote to approve Hygear Suspension's request for a Special Use Permit to build and operate a test track came near.

Hygear Suspension, of 8 Cayuga Vista Drive, specializes in custom suspension for motorcycles, snowmobiles, dirt bikes and ATVs.  Owner Ross Benson's application for an exception to the current code was considered by the town Planning Board, which forwarded its recommendation to approve the permit to the Town Board.
