Last week at sectionals Adam Hardie and Devin Grant-Keane played doubles and had 3 victories over teams from S. Cayuga, Trumansburg and Newark Valley to advance to the East-West crossover matches yesterday.   They played very well and defeated Seton # 1 doubles team 6-4, 6-3 to make it to the finals against END.  They lost 3-6, 6-7 (7-5) tiebreaker.

Now we continue in the State Qualifier where all classes send the top 2 finishers for a double elimination tournament on Friday, May 26 to earn a chance to go to States held at Flushing Meadows, where US Open is held.  I'm very proud of how we have played to this point and feel we have a shot at going to States.

The tennis team finished the season 8-3 for dual matches. We had a beautiful sunny day for IAC's at SUNY-Cortland Wednesday yesterday and the team finished 4th with 33pts, Waverly had 34, T-burg had 38 and END won with 57 points.

We had Katie Bruno and Walker Diebolt as 3rd Doubles Champions, Devin Grant-Keane runner-up in 1st Singles, Adam Hardie was 3rd at 2nd singles position and Hunter Preston and Sander Moolin were 3rd for 2nd doubles. In the Novice Tournament ( JV's) we had Tom Zarate beat Travis Miller to win the male singles and the doubles team of Tyler Engels and Tom Wilson were second in the mixed doubles competition. It was a fun day of some very hard played matches. We only lose 2 seniors from the starting line-up so the future looks great for next year's team.
