posticon Golf Bobcats Finish 3rd in Golf Sectionals

golfgreen120The Varsity Boy's Golf Team finished the season with an overall record of 10-5. The team placed 3rd overall at the Class C Sectional Tournament and 2nd overall at the IAC League Championships.  

Nic Whittaker (Sophomore) led the team with a season average of 38.77.  Nic participated in the Section 4 State Qualifier and was the overall medalist winner at Team Sectionals shooting a 75.  He also finished second at the IAC Championships shooting a round of 76.  Nic was named as a 1st Team IAC All-Star.

posticon Tennis Bobcats Win 7th Consecutive IAC Title

The 2016 Lansing tennis team completed it's regular season Tuesday with a 5-2 over Elmira Notre Dame. This match decided the league's regular season title as Lansing ended the season at 10-0 and END finished at 8-2. This marked the 6th consecutive undefeated season for the Lansing tennis program and it's 7th consecutive IAC regular season title.

posticon Two Wins Earn Sectional Title For Tennis Bobcats

tennisThe Lansing tennis team brought it's six participants into the West Sectionals at Southern Cayuga with the hope of advancing to the East/West playoff and bringing back the Sectionals title. With no team title competed for in NY State High School Tennis the Sectionals title is the crowning achievement for any tennis team in NY State.

In addition to the Sectionals crown players individual seasons are at stake as they either move on to the East/West playoffs in the single elimination tournament or their season comes to an abrupt end. Each team is allowed four entrants- two singles players and two doubles teams.

posticon Lansing Track & Field Sets Meet Records at Union Springs

track1The Lansing boys and girls track and field team traveled to the Union Springs Invitational on Saturday. Five meet records were set by members of the girls team. Junior Emily Gallagher soared to meet records in the long jump and pole vault and shares the 400M relay record with sophomore Meghan Matheny, eighth grader Gwen Gisler, and sophomore Miya Kuramoto. Freshman Destiny Little secured the high jump meet record and shares the freshman/sophomore sprint medley relay record with freshman Liz Barre, sophomores Mikaela Garcia and Leigh Miller. Many of their teammates stood on the podium throughout the meet as the Bobcats continue a strong season and set their sights on the upcoming championship meets.

posticon Lansing Girls Take 3rd Overall, Boys 5th at IAC Track & Field Championships

track1Trumansburg hosted the 2016 IAC Track & Field Championships last Thursday and Friday.  Elmira Notre Dame took the overall large school girls title followed by runner-up Newark Valley.  While Lansing girls had the lead by one point at the end of day one, Elmira Notre Dame and Newark Valley displayed their depth on day two and surged ahead.  Lansing girls secured third place with inspiring performances on both days, including tightly contested relay races and some breakout runs and jumps by the Bobcats.

All three Lansing girls' relay teams earned First Team All Star status.  Lansing's 400M relay team (Meghan Matheny, Emily Gallagher, Gwen Gisler, Miya Kuramoto) ran to third place behind winner Newark Valley and runner-up Trumansburg while the 3200M relay team of Sam Mauser, Mikaela Garcia, Leigh Miller, and Catie Eisenhut improved their season best time by nearly one minute as they secured third place behind Elmira Notre Dame and Union Springs.  The 1600M relay team of Michelle Schafer, Mauser, Garcia, and Emma Dhimitri edged out Newark Valley for a runner-up finish to Elmira Notre Dame in a season best time by seven seconds.

posticon Tennis Bobcats Win 7th Straight IAC Championship

tennisThe Lansing Tennis Bobcats traveled to the Ernie Davis Academy in Elmira for the two-day, 11 team IAC tournament championships. Led by Zoli Csaki, Nick Parkes, Ryan Buchanan and the doubles tandem of Max Avramis/Chris Robinson the Bobcats captured their 7th straight IAC tournament title.

The Bobcats captured 4 first place finishes and 3 second place finishes overall in the 7 flights of play. With a team total of 61 points the Bobcats outpaced a much improved Elmira Notre Dame squad who placed second and Thomas Edison who took third overall.

posticon Lansing Track & Field Takes on Legends and a Showcase

track2In a busy week, the Lansing track & field teams were represented at several meets, traveling twice to Trumansburg and sending a group of vaulters to Hilton High School.

Emily Gallagher, Meghan Matheny, and Gwen Gisler continued their very successful season at the Runnin' Cadet Classic Saturday Night Showdown, an event featuring top pole vaulters in the area.  Gallagher secured second place with a vault of 11'6" while Gisler and Matheny both cleared 10' to claim seventh and eighth place, respectively, in an exciting competition under the lights at Hilton High School.

wellsAurora -- Student-athletes representing all 14 of Wells College's NCAA Division III varsity sports were honored at the 41st-annual Athletics Awards Ceremony on Monday.

Orchestrated by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at Wells, the ceremony formally recognizes the accomplishments of both teams and individuals for their performances across various arenas, from the courts, pools and fields to the classrooms on the Aurora campus.

tennisThe Tennis Bobcats upped their season record to 6-0 as they seek their 7th consecutive conference title. The Lansing tennis team put together their best effort of the season against a solid Waverly squad dropping only one set and winning the match 7-0 overall. Zoli Csaki turned in an exceptional performance at #1 singles as did Chris Robinson and Max Avramis who dominated their #1 Doubles match.

The tennis Bobcats finished the week with a dominant performance over Trumansburg where they dropped only three total games in the entire match. The 7-0 match score brought the tennis Bobcats to an overall 42-2 match score to this point in the season. Next week the Bobcats are scheduled to play four matches to close out the regular season- against Moravia, Watkins Glen, END and Union Springs.

posticon Lansing Girls Win at Tully Co-Ed Track & Field Invitational

track2It may be spring break, but the girls of Lansing's track and field team were not about to let up their efforts.  Running and jumping to a third place finish at the Doug Quinney Invitational in Sidney on Saturday, the ladycats then returned to action on Monday and won the Tully Co-Ed Spring Break Invitational.

Lansing made the trip out to Sidney High School for the second annual Doug Quinney Invitational where 24 teams would compete at the venue for the upcoming Section 4 Class C Championship Meet (May 26).  Emma Dhimitri stood on the awards stand in all four of her events.  She set a new meet record of 16.54 seconds with her win in the 100M hurdles and followed this up with second place in the 400M hurdles, 4th place in the triple jump, and a speedy anchor leg of the 4th place 4x400M relay (which also included Mikaela Garcia, Leigh Miller, and Catie Eisenhut).  Eisenhut also set a meet record, running to the win in the 1500M with a time of 5:08.48.

posticon Lansing Track Wins at Groton

track1Both the boys and girls track teams of Lansing were winners in their double dual meets over Groton and Moravia on Monday.  The boys ended with final scores of 83-41 over Groton and 82-50 over Moravia while the girls posted a score of 101-25 over Groton and 86-46 over Moravia.

The boys team traveled to the Marathon Invitational last Thursday, led by Alex Powers and Devin McCartney who earned provisional qualifying marks in the shot put and 1600M run, respectively.  Powers continued to lead the bobcats throwing crew when they arrived at Groton on Monday with Tyler Ayers (shot put) and Nate Fleishman (discus) also scoring.  Moravia's Josh Campanella and Zack Chehovich took the overall wins in shot put and discus, respectively.  Lansing boys swept the triple jump and pole vault events.
