Photo caption Jaron Russell shared (photo) a hug with his school bus driver during the annual transportation appreciation breakfast held recently in the Smith School cafeteria at TST BOCES. Exceptional Education students expressed their gratitude to the dozens of school bus drivers, aides and monitors who ensure the students arrive safely and on time to school each day.

Exceptional Education students created cards, posters and other artwork expressing thanks to their school bus drivers, aides and monitors. The artwork lined the walls of the Smith School cafeteria as the transportation department personnel admired the work while enjoying breakfast food items and coffee. According to TST BOCES Exceptional Education Principal Mary Meeker, the appreciation breakfast has been held annually for the past four or five years. It serves as an opportunity to bring the transportation department employees into the building and for students and staff to express their gratitude for the drivers, aides and monitors, Meeker noted.

"The drivers who bring the students to our building are extraordinary and resourceful people," Meeker said. "This is our way of thanking them and showing our appreciation for what they do."
