Communiqué Design & Marketing Inc. announced Tuesday that they have been awarded certification status as a Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) by the New York State Department of Economic Development.

The certifications are used to encourage and assist state agencies to award a fair share of state contracts to minority and women-owned businesses. Communiqué Design & Marketing is a marketing and advertising consulting firm serving the Finger Lakes region. Owner, Laurie A. Linn, President and CEO of Communiqué, started the company in 1991.

"Communiqué Design & Marketing is thrilled to have this prestigious designation with the state of New York", says Linn. “Governor Andrew M. Cuomo should be applauded for his efforts in economic development and encouraging business-to-business commerce with New York State, in particular with minority and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs). These efforts have resulted in an increase in MWBE utilization beyond 20 percent, which stood at 9% just a few short years ago."

Linn began pursuing WBE status in 2013 and says she is confident that the WBE certification and participation in WBE forums will be instrumental in providing Communiqué with a new set of resources to define and grow Communiqué’s business.
