ImageITHACA, NY - Kristin McGee, renowned fitness professional best known for her work on the MTV Power Yoga and Pilates DVDs, will be in Ithaca on Saturday, 22 September. Sponsored by Rasa Spa, in conjunction with The Pilates Room and Island Health & Fitness, the day-long visit will commence at 10am with an informal talk on balancing physical and mental fitness, followed by two yoga classes, and one Pilates mat class.

The day will showcase the ease of accessibility to fitness that McGee incorporates into her own work with people of all backgrounds and ages. It will to introduce the local community to the many facets of health care and maintenance that the Island Health Center has to offer. Attendees are encouraged to spend the day getting to know the sponsoring partners at Island in between participating in classes with Ms. McGee. Offerings of 10% off Spa treatments and massage therapy will be in effect for all attendees on the day, lunch is available for purchase at Cafe Carpineto, and tours are available for interested parties.

McGee choreographed and taught the first MTV Yoga video, which was followed up by three additional titles for the station, and has appeared on CNN "Headline News", Fox's "Good Day New York" and NBC's "Today Show" as a fitness consultant. She was seen on the covers of Pilates Style and Fit Yoga magazines, and has been featured in Self, InStyle, Shape, Fitness and Women's Health. When she's not instructing clients, Ms. McGee spreads her yoga and Pilates discipline to schools and community centers in the New York City area. Her latest endeavor is a series of instructional yoga videos for "tweens" and teens, called Bendigirl.

This visit kicks off a new season of health at the sponsoring partners. This fall, Rasa introduces classes on meditation and nutrition, and continues their discount treatment program for those in need of massage therapy to aid in healing from injury or disease; The Pilates Room premieres a new line of uniquely sophisticated fitness apparel, and offers intensive Pilates Instructor Certifications, (October); and Island Health & Fitness expands their copious class offerings to include a new roster of warm water aquatics to help prevent the potential of cold weather blues.
