ImageITHACA, NY - News/Talk 870 WHCU won the top award at the New York State Broadcasters Association (NYSBA)  43rd Annual Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting in the category “ Best Public Service Announcement/Campaign” for the station’s “Conversations on Equity” PSA series.

Cayuga Radio Group donated $50,000 worth of air time to be used over a one year period by the Tompkins Chamber of Commerce “Conversation on Equity” task force.  This donation of air time, as well as creative services and production, was used to help promote and create a sustained community dialogue.

The Campaign produced 14 PSA’s that are currently running on all five (5) Cayuga Radio Group Stations. Each commercial is voiced by individuals from different segments of the local community, including heads of local industry, Cornell professors, community leaders, and high school students. These voices offer messages of concern, good faith solutions, and hope for a better future for our children and our community.

Cayuga Radio Group President/General Manager Susan Johnston accepted the award at the NYSBA Awards Banquet, held June 24th at the Sagamore Resort Hotel, on Lake George in Bolton Landing, New York.

Cayuga Radio Group operates five radio stations serving Ithaca, Cortland and the surrounding area: WHCU/WYXL/WNYY/WQNY/WIII.
