ImageSpark Studios will hold a grand opening Saturday, December 6th from 10am to 4pm.  Located next to Baker’s Acres on Rt. 34, Spark Studios is a fine arts studio created to offer affordable fine arts classes to people of all ages.

The studio offers a variety of classes, free groups and meetings.  Classes include adult and teen ballet, private ballet lessons, lyrical dance, stretch and strengthening, ballet and creative dance for children, guitar, bass, a writer’s workshop, open art studio, children’s art studio, a free book club, free photography club, and more.

Director April Krueger started the studio with the aim of creating a community meeting place for anyone to practice their art in a creative environment, free from distractions.  Krueger also aims to cultivate a healthy relationship between mind and body, through dance classes and a body acceptance class.  Krueger says the studio is a place for everyone to practice their art, no matter their skill level or body type.

Having danced with the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City, American Ballet Theatre’s Summer Intensive in Detroit, and the Hubbard Street Dance School in Chicago, Krueger is well aware of the pressures surrounding young artists.  In addition to being a dancer, Krueger plays the piano, clarinet, and drums, and is a writer.

Guitar and bass lessons will be taught by Robert Southworth, who is self taught on guitar, bass, drums, and piano, and has played for four years with Steve Southworth and the Rockabilly Rays.

Other teachers will soon be added, creating opportunities for more lessons, including piano, drums, formal art lessons, voice, and acting.

Spark Studios’ grand opening will feature efreshments and a drawing for free class passes.  A sample lyrical dance class will be held from noon to 12:30 open to all, and everyone will have a chance to sign up for classes.
