ImageThe Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Rob LaHood has been hired as the Director of Membership and Public Relations. He succeeds Doug Levine, who has accepted the position of Executive Director at the State Theater in Ithaca.

“Rob’s ability to network with others and his passion for the arts and for improving the quality of life in Ithaca made him the successful candidate for this position," says Chamber of Commerce President Jean McPheeters.  "The Membership and Public Relations Director for the Tompkins Chamber must be able to convey the spirit and energy of our Chamber and our community to members, local businesses and residents, and potential businesses. Rob possesses a great mix of skills—writing, public speaking, and a finance background. The board and staff are delighted to have Rob join us in working for our community.”

Formerly of Washington, DC, LaHood made Ithaca his adopted home six years ago and worked for Cornell’s Alumni Affairs and Development Division from 2004-2007. He has been a member of the Kitchen Theatre Company’s Board of Directors since 2003 and recently joined the Board of Cinemapolis, the art and independent movie theater recently opened on Green Street in downtown Ithaca.

In 2005, LaHood completed Leadership Tompkins, a community leadership development program that serves Tompkins County by nurturing community leadership in service-oriented individuals.  LaHood is thrilled to join the Chamber and looks forward to being an advocate for businesses in the Ithaca and Tompkins County community.
