ITHACA, NY -- A May dance concert titled "Room" will be performed at the Cornell Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts on May 3-5 at 7 pm.

"This concert is about opening doors to new ideas and about opening space and making room for personal expression," said Concert Director and Choreographer Byron Suber. "Musicality is also an integral part of next week's concert which is not always as an important component of our concerts."

The performance starts, ends and is interspersed with short dance segments choreographed to Bach's Goldberg variations by faculty members Suber and Jumay Chu. There will also be live violin and piano music played by Max Buckholtz and Jacob Slominski, in addition to recorded music by Stravinsky, Elisa, and Sakamuto.

The concert features seven short dance performances and films choreographed by Suber, Chu, and Cornell students Ashley Ferro-Murray, Mark Yatskar, Shushan Xu, Jacob Slominski, and Joseph Swingle. The evening also showcases original student digital films by Slominski and Maria Isabel Jimenez Leon, and Alexander Velasco.
