ImageThe Kitchen Theatre Company is going to the dogs! with the new musical adventure Emmett & Ella's Big Apple Escapade, opening February 2nd and running through February 17th with performances on Saturdays at 1 & 3pm, and Sundays at 1pm.

Emmett is a hound dog, Ella's got some retriever in her, and Louella Smythe-Trappe is a lady who loves her dogs and loves to sing. When Louella's lifelong dream of singing at Radio City Music Hall in New York City becomes a reality, Emmett & Ella are shocked to learn that she isn't planning on bringing them along. The dogs hatch a plan to follow her, leading to a wild, unexpected, Big Apple escapade full of song, dance and interesting characters along the way.

Emmett is played by Ithaca College student and KTC newcomer Marcin Pawlikiewicz, recent Wellesley graduate Kelly Gavin lends her beautiful voice to the role of Ella and Louella Smythe-Trappe is played by Percy Browning (last seen at the Kitchen in I HAVE A SONG TO SING O!). The role of Rags is played by Nick Barb, recently seen on the Kitchen Theatre Main Stage as T-Rex in STRANGERHORSE and the Kitchen Theatre's own Managing Director Stephen Nunley will play multiple roles in the play.

Playwright/lyricist Rachel Lampert, also the KTC's Artistic Director, has authored many original Family Fare productions (THE ADVENTURE IN APARTMENT G SHARP, REBECCA RETURNS, THE MOZART MYSTERY, I HAVE A SONG TO SING O!, WINTER TALES, A DECEMBER SUITE, THE SISTERS FITZENSTARTS FALL RECITAL, THE EMMETT & HAMBONE STORIES and FOOLS! SCHMOOLS!) and adaptations (THE ODYSSEY PARTS I & II, A CHRISTMAS CAROL, PIRATES OF PENZANCE, HMS PINAFORE and THE MIKADO).

Composer Lesley Greene has composed music for CIRCUS WUNDERBAR, THE REFRIGERATOR CAPER, FOOLS! SCHMOOLS!, SCIENCE FAIR, WINTER TALES and REBECCA RETURNS. Lesley also directed the original production of Hilby's CIRCUS WUNDERBAR, assistant directed Family Fare and Main Stage productions (PIRATES OF PENZANCE, MIKADO, SCIENCE FAIR, WALTZ), played flute in THE MOZART MYSTERY, and performed on stage in STOP KISS, THE TRIAL, PIRATES OF PENZANCE, H.M.S. PINAFORE, FOOLS! SCHMOOLS! I & II, THE ODYSSEY PART I, WINTER TALES, I HAVE A SONG TO SING O!, and REBECCA RETURNS. She serves as the producer of the Family Fare and Counter Culture Series at the Kitchen.

Music Director Richard Montgomery has performed as accompanist, conductor, music director, and stage director in opera and musical theater throughout the United States and locally with Ithaca Opera, Kitchen Theatre Company, Cornell Theatre, and the Hangar Theatre. He is currently the music director for the KTC's Main Stage production BED NO BREAKFSAT and was the music director for last season's Family Fare shows THE MOZART MYSTERY and THE ODYSSEY PART II and the Main Stage production of COMFORT FOOD.
