ImageLansing Volleyball is having a wonderful year this year!  They have a strong team that gives it all of their heart and soul.  I just wanted to say that tonight (9/25) I experienced something that I have never, never thought I would at a high school sporting event.

While you can expect large painted banners that state "Skin the Bobcats" which in my opinion is very unsportsman like, the statements coming from their fans and their JV team were appalling.  Yes, we have a young man that plays for our team.  Is it really acceptable that we should allow our oponents and their fans to yell out such remarks like skin the faggot, kill the fag, take the fag out and other such comments.

If people from Lansing were to make these banners or these comments they would be asked to leave.  Why, because our school teaches our teams to have class and respect for others.  This would not be tolerated in Lansing.  If the parents and the players heard these comments then how can I believe that the coachs did not?  The referee gave these people warnings and they were not asked to leave.

These are derogatory, rascist comments that should not be allowed by anyone, on any team, for any reason at any school/place.  We should not take our team back to this school and certainly should make people aware of the attitudes out there that are happening.  I applaud our young man for being there and doing what he does.  Our team is proud to have him on our side.
