ImageThe Lansing Girls Basketball team opened the 2009-10 season with a 64-23 home win over Marathon on Tuesday.  Jocelyn Ford had a team high 25 points, on 10 of 14 shooting from the floor, including 13 first quarter points. 

All eight eligible players factored in the scoring, with Ellyn Grant-Keane adding 8 points and a team high 8 assists and 8 steals. Stephanie Gonyea also had 8 points, while MC Barrett and Nina Lindberg chipped in with 6 points each, with Barrett having a team high 9 rebounds. Lydia Warkentin and Colby McCartney each had 4 points, and Carlene Fields added 3 points.

Rounding out this years team are two players working themselves back from injuries, senior Kelsey Redmond and sophomore Shanna Shaff. The team played outstanding defense the entire night limiting Marathon to single figures in all four quarters. The trio of Lydia Warkentin, MC Barrett and Colby McCartney held Marathons 6'1" Samantha Courtney to 10 points on the night. The Ladycats travel to Dryden on Friday for a key Divisional contest.
