EditorialFirst, is it me or did Mother Earth give Washington politicians a good shaking Tuesday as if to say, 'What are you idiots thinking?!?!?!'  It seemed like our elected officials didn't think the economy was lousy enough as they preened and positioned and did everything except protect the economy as they argued over extending the debt ceiling.

Really?  Didn't any of them think the stock market would take another beating if they acted like morons?  Or were they hell bent on proving that by not taking care of business in a responsible way that they actually are morons?

Some members of Congress have demanded hearings and an investigation into credit rating agency Standard & Poor (S&P) after they downgraded the United States' credit rating earlier this month.  So they want to spend more of our money attacking the credit rating company for saying that an entity with trillions of dollars of debt that can't decide responsibly whether or not to deal with it or just close down the country is a less good credit risk than before it couldn't decide?

I think Congress should waste our money investigating itself.  Though I would hope they would hire an independent investigator.  How about Jim Rockford?  I'll bet they would pay big bucks to hire a fictional investigator.

Recent reports have told us that Apple now has more money than the United States government.  Apple seems to have been pretty good at handling their money.  Maybe we should all secede from the United States and become citizens of Apple.  And wow, if we all get a free iPad I'd bet they could make that happen!
