mailmanI have seen the drawings of the proposed 110 unit senior housing project and I am concerned that many people from this rural/suburban area would not want to spend their last years in a hotel-like building as is shown in the pictures.

I recently researched many elderly housing choices in the Rochester area for my mother. Now my sister and I, who have no children to care for us later on, have started thinking about where we would want to live in our elder years.

Having lived most my life in a rural area surrounded by woods and nature, I would NOT choose to live in a hotel-like, multistory building (even though it may have a couple "views" to the west). I would prefer housing that is more like small cottages or one or two story, spread-out buildings with lots views of and access to greenery and natural landscaping.

There are many such choices elsewhere in Tompkins County and in other areas of upstate New York. I hope we don't end up with a half-empty senior residence building.
