The Lansing Community Aquatics Team (LCAT) competed at this past weekend's Eastern Zone Championship Meet held on Long Island.  LCAT swimmers Erin McElfresh, Ryan Nicholson, Hans Roser, Nikki Dean, Megan Lloyd, Jake Sangren, Nicole Heise and Sterling Gell were all chosen to represent the Niagara Swimming District at the Eastern Zone Championships on Long Island this past weekend. The Niagara District encompasses over fifty teams in Central and Western NY, from the Syracuse-Binghamton-Buffalo area. The ZONES meet is offered to some of the fastest age-group swimmers from the northeastern quadrant of the U.S.

On their way to breaking seventeen LCAT club records, the swimmers placed very well among the competition.

Ryan Nicholson (9-10)-4th place 50 Fly and 7th place 200 I.M. Set club records in both events, as well as in the 200 Free. They were all his records to break!

Erin McElfresh (9-10)-broke her own Niagara District Record in the 9-10 age group 200 Free and, between the last competition and this, swam 5 USA Swimming National Top 16 Reportable Times for 9-10 girls -50 Free (27.23), 50 Fly (30.07), 100 Free (59.10), 200 Free (2:07.28), 500 Free (5:41.13). Erin medalled (top 8) in every event at Zones, including 1st place finishes in the 100, 200 and 500 Freestyle events. All of her above swims are club records.

Hans Roser (15-18)-1st place 200 Breaststroke (2:08.54). 2nd place 100 Breast. 7th place 200 I.M. Hans established club records in these events, as well as in the 200 Fly.

Nikki Dean (15-18)-1st place 200 Free (1:54.60) and 500 Free (5:10.06). 4th in 100 Free. 3rd place 200 Free Relay. Broke her own club records in the 200 and 500.

Nicole Heise (15-18)-3rd place 200 Free Relay. Club record (at Golds) in the 200 Back.

Megan Lloyd (9-10)-Set club records in the 50 (37.30) and 100 (1:21.81) Breaststroke events.

Jake Sangren (15-18)-6th place in the 100 Back with a club record 55.74.

Again, for those following Lansing High School swimming, Nikki, Hans and Jake all swam times that would have either eclipsed, or come close to breaking, current Lansing high school team records. Jake's 100 Back (55.74) is considerably faster than the current record held by Rick Ducharme. Nikki's 200 Free (1:54.60) and 500 Free (5:10.06) would smash the current school records. Hans's 200 I.M (2:01.66) also breaks his own high school record.

The meet was a nice way to end a great season for the LCAT swimmers.
