The Lansing CATS Swim Team had a great meet this past weekend in Endicott, NY! A bit more than half of the LCATs summer team travelled to Endicott to compete in the Sertoma Long Course Invitational hosted by the Union Aquatics Club. The LCATs placed first out of twenty-five teams from NY and Canada, and did so with a fantastic team effort through pouring rain and scorching heat.

Their accomplishments, included multiple best times, first-time swims, team records and high-point earners. Ryan McElfresh (8-and-Under age group), Kevin Miller (8-and-Under), Kevin Nicholson (11-12), Ryan Nicholson (9-10), Erin McElfresh (11-12), Jake Sangren (Open), Dan Miller (13-14) and Brigitta Roser (Open) all achieved high point status. Several other LCAT swimmers were knocking on the high-point door.

The team also broke a meet record during the weekend when Sasha Kuznezov, Sterling Gell, Bob Divers and Joe Rogan won the 200 Freestyle Relay in a time of 1:45.00. It was the only meet record broken during the invitational. The previous 200 relay record was 1:45.39, set by Cortland Y team back in 1991.

Many of the LCATs families spent the weekend camping near the pool, which made the weekend even more of an event. It was a great time all around.

The club has the Southern Tier Swim League Championship Meet this coming Saturday in Watkins Glen.
