dog1Currently, the SPCA of Tompkins County is caring for hundreds of cats and kittens, dogs and puppies. Kittens (we still have many!) and many adult cats especially need canned food.

The SPCA urgently needs both canned cat and dog food! We are asking our friends in the community to donate pate-style canned cat food and any style canned dog food to the shelter as soon as possible.

Jim Bouderau, executive director, says “While I am sure that the number of animals we are caring for this fall is similar to other years, it feels like we have had more kittens, more cats, and more adult dogs than ever this season. We go though hundreds of cans of food each week and it is hard to keep the shelves stocked.”

Bouderau goes on the say “Throughout the year, our community provides us with literally tons of donated items for the nearly 3,000 lost, abandoned, surrendered or neglected animals who seek refuge at the SPCA. We are confident that we can count on the community to help us provide for these animals with donations of canned food.”

Items may be dropped off at either the Rescue Shelter or the Dorothy and Roy Park Pet Adoption Center at 1640 Hanshaw Road during regular business hours or left in the donation bins in front of either building, or at the SPCA Annex at The Shops at Ithaca Mall.
