sc_sign175The Sciencenter has completed the initial phase of a new 18-hole mini-golf course. Visitors of all ages can tee-off on a one-of-a-kind course during Sciencenter museum hours from July 4 through November 30, weather permitting.

This professionally built mini-golf course includes 18 holes spread over 11,000 square feet curving around the Sciencenter building and parking lot. The course is fully wheelchair accessible with ADA approved clubs, and also features 9 recycled material benches throughout.

The Sciencenter mini-golf course will be open during museum hours.  Sciencenter members that play during opening weekend, July 4 – 6, will be entered to win a prize.

In addition to the original mini-golf holes designed for this course, the final phase to be completed by summer 2015 includes custom science challenges for each of the holes. This summer, guests will encounter two science-themed holes – one on Newton’s laws of motion, and another on preventing pollutants from entering our waterways.  Custom science elements will be developed and built before the 2015 season, which will complete the final phase of the construction.

“In keeping with the Sciencenter’s mission,” says Tim Scott, deputy director, “the mini-golf course is an interactive exhibition that will engage our community in a wide variety of science concepts in a fun, hands-on way.”
