The Human Library concept was developed in Denmark in 2000 and is now used in more than 60 countries as a tool for challenging societal prejudices and promoting community conversations.
Individuals who have experienced discrimination due to race, age, religious affiliation, sexual orientation or lifestyle choices are invited to serve as 'Human Books' during this event.
During the Human Library experience Library patrons and community members will have an opportunity to learn more about stereotypes and stigmas by 'checking out' a 'Human Book' and engaging in a one-on-one conversation.
