The United Way of Tompkins County (UWTC) Board of Directors recently unanimously approved funding recommendations totaling $57,940 to support local health and human services and programs.  Elaine Quaroni and Scott Keenan, UWTC Community Investment Committee Co-Chairs and Board Members, presented funding recommendations to the Board of Directors for the Fall Hunger & Food Security Fund, totaling $30,940.

The members of the 2014 Youth and Philanthropy Council presented $25,000 in funding recommendations and Ithaca College Student United Way grant recommendations totaling $2,000 were also presented. Eight members of the Youth and Philanthropy Council, Hanalei Berg, Mackenzie Corcoran, Alison Holdsworth, Katelyn Hoy, Francesca Merrick,  Ilana Wallenstein, Savannah Wheaton, and Piers Whitaker presented the grant recommendations to the UWTC Board.

UWTC continues to work with community partners to eliminate hunger and food security barriers in Tompkins County. Since 2009, UWTC has both a Spring and Fall Hunger & Food Security Grant Cycle due to an increase in demand for funding.  Any Tompkins County non-profit health & human services organization can apply for Hunger & Food Security funding.
