The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is advising motorists in the city of Ithaca, Tompkins County of an upcoming bridge project on Route 13 over Cascadilla and Fall Creeks.   Work on the bridge over Cascadilla Creek will begin on Monday, May 18, with work on the bridge over Falls Creek to occur later this summer.

The rehabilitation project will include deck and approach overlays, joint replacement, substructure repairs and spot painting.  Work at both bridges will be done in two stages, with a completion later this year.

Traffic will be maintained on-site during construction.  On the bridge over Cascadilla Creek, lanes will be shifted to one side of the bridge, providing two northbound lanes and one southbound lane, in each of the two stages.  The lanes will be ten feet wide.  On the bridge over Fall Creek, single northbound and southbound lanes (eleven feet wide) will be provided in each stage of work.  Speed limit reductions in the work zones will be in place.
