The 2015-2016 Community Care Fund (CCF) awards a total of $922,000 and support 95 education, income, and health programs at 41 local nonprofits. This funding will help children and youth succeed in school, work, and life; individuals and families improve their financial stability and self-sufficiency; and people of all ages will have improved physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
The Spring 2015 Hunger & Food Security Fund awards a total of $30,941.58 and supports thirteen programs at twelve local nonprofits. These dollars help community members have access to an adequate supply of nutritious food, including children during school breaks. In 2014-2015, the programs supported by these grants served almost 65,000 people. Hunger & Food Security Fund investments are made biannually in the Spring and Fall.
Community Care Fund and Hunger & Food Security investments are awarded by a team of diverse community volunteers after a review of current community needs and an evaluation of each program's design, finances, outcomes and performance. The final investments are approved by the UWTC Board of Directors. This process ensures that donor dollars are invested in high-performing non-profits and are essential programs to our community's ability to grow and succeed.
In addition to the Community Care Fund and the Hunger & Food Security Fund, UWTC also has a number of special initiatives that are funded; including Student Engagement programs, Urgent Rx Prescription Program, the Volunteer Center, and gifts that community members designated to specific non-profits
For over 90 years, people have chosen to invest through United Way of Tompkins County to build a stronger community. 100% of gifts to UWTC's Community Care Fund, special initiatives, and member organizations directly support education, income, and health programs; due to the support of the Corporate Cornerstone Partners and UWTC earned income.
