Jim Bouderau, SPCA of Tompkins County executive director, has announced that City of Ithaca Mayor, Svante Myrick, will serve as the Chairperson of the shelter's most important annual fundraising event, the 2015 March for the Animals.

The March for the Animals is scheduled for Sunday, October 4 at 10:30 a.m. at the F.R. Newman Arboretum in The Plantations on the Cornell University campus. The Plantations also serves as host sponsor for the event. Like other local friend-raising events, the majority of fundraising for the $100,000 goal will take place in the weeks leading up to the event.

Bouderau says "Svante, like so many people in our community, is dedicated to our no-kill mission and to saving lives not only in the City of Ithaca, but all of Tompkins County. I am thrilled that he will chair our 6th annual March for the Animals. For the next six weeks, Mayor Myrick will be helping us rally fundraisers so we meet our goal!"
