Aurora, NY—Wells College President Jonathan Gibralter recently announced the hire of Craig S. Evans, Ed. D., to lead the College's advancement program. Dr. Evans comes to Wells from fundraising directorships at Ithaca College and Syracuse University, as well as the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, Fla., where he served as Executive Director. He brings a broad range of experience in individual giving, planned giving, and campaign management.

In making the announcement, President Gibralter noted, "Dr. Evans brings critical expertise to our advancement program. As we build on generations of strong and loyal alumni support, the College will rely on him to prepare us for our next campaign."

The College's advancement program, which includes fundraising and alumni relations, typically raises in excess of $4 million per year with strong alumni and alumnae participation, as well as generous regional and national foundation support. Having completed its last formal campaign in 2000, the College is preparing for a major comprehensive campaign to coincide with its sesquicentennial in 2018.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to lead—in such a strong program and at an institution of Wells' caliber. With President Gibralter's new leadership and sense of optimism for the future, I'm confident that good things are ahead for Wells College. I look forward to working with such a generous and supportive alumni base as well as foundations and friends of the College near and far," said Dr. Evans.

Dr. Evans completed his Doctor of Education, majoring in Educational Leadership and Education Law, at the University of Central Florida, and his Master of Music Education and Master of Music, majoring in Performance (violin), at Florida State University. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Ithaca College and is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy ® from the American College of Financial Services.

Dr. Evans will begin his new position on February 1. He succeeds Michael McGreevey, who left the College late last year to take a similar position at Otterbein University in Ohio. "Given the importance of fundraising to the overall health of the College, Trustees were extremely gratified to be able to participate in the search for advancement leadership. We all look forward to working with Dr. Evans as we continue to strengthen our programs in this critical area," added Fiona Morgan Fein '65, chair of the Board of Trustees' Advancement Committee.
