This year the Lansing Central School District scheduled its mid-winter break starting at the end of one week and ending in the middle of the following week.  Administrators and residents worried that the odd vacation span would mean lower attendance in both weeks, as families sought to take a week's vacation with their children.

But Superintendent Chris Pettograsso tole the Lansing Board Of Education Monday that they needn't worried.

"The time was a little odd, from the end of one week and the beginning of another week," she said.  "One of the concerns was that we would have a number of students who were out on either end.  I am glad to report that our attendance was either better than usual or typical.  I received a couple of thank-yous from people who said they had a less-expensive flight.  So that was good news."
