The town will decide who makes the best Mac 'n Cheese on March 18th at Ithaca High School. The 4th Annual Mac 'n Cheese Bowl will include live music, a children's corner, and our finest local Mac 'n Cheese dishes. The bowl supports Foodnet's meal delivery, and nutrition services for older adults and others in Tompkins County who are unable to cook or shop for their daily meals.
This year's event features 18 generous competitors. Bandwagon Brewpub, Cayuga Medical Center, and Ithaca Ale House will compete as last year's returning champions! By popular demand, the "Kid's Choice" award is back this year! Kids ages 5-12 will be able vote for their favorite Mac 'n Cheese.
The Mac 'n Cheese Bowl is Foodnet's largest annual community engagement event. Last year, the event had a record turnout with approximately 900 attendees of all ages, and raised $16,000. This year, Foodnet will use the proceeds of the event will support funds for meal delivery vans. Foodnet delivers 700 daily meals to over 400 hundred individuals throughout Tompkins County. Operating delivery vans are critical to Foodnet's ability to continue providing quality services.
The event is timed to coincide with Meals on Wheels America's March for meals campaign. In March, programs across the country will work within their communities to cultivate opportunities for support to continue providing nutritious meals, friendly visits, and safety checks to older adults and others. 2017 will be an exciting year for Foodnet Meals on Wheels. Founding Executive Director, Stephen Griffin retired at the end of 2016, and the Board of Director's named the new Executive Director, Jessica Gosa.
