The Fine Arts Booster Group (FABG), an affiliate of IPEI, has awarded $4,620 in grants to 12 Ithaca City School District (ICSD) programs that will reach 1,180 students. Grant funds are made possible through Fine Arts Booster Group donations and performance programs ad sales sponsorships. The boosters produce performance booklet programs for middle and high school concerts and plays, totaling over thirty five events each year.
All secondary schools received Drama Program grants, including DeWitt Middle, Boynton Middle, Lehman Alternative Community, and Ithaca High. Secondary school arts trips will be supported by scholarship assistance. The Saltonstall Arts Colony received support for the annual teacher residency. A special grant was awarded to support students performing an ICSD student’s work at the New York State Schools Music Association conference. The Combined Jazz Bands will have a visiting guest artist. The Ithaca High Visual Arts students will create portraits for orphan refugees. In addition, FABG mini-grants support dance, visual artists, touring theater, and music at Ithaca High, Beverly J. Martin Elementary and Fall Creek Elementary Schools.
The next FABG Mini-Grant deadline is February 1, 2019.
